Problem occurs when user tries to retrieve a file from EV and open the pdf attachment.

Clinets XPPro laptop has been patch to latest

Office 2007 has been patched to the latest service packs

Other language is German/ Enlgish UK on the laptop.

Adobe reader X ( dropped back to 9.04 - thought it was the issue, same result )

thought it may be becuase of language - installed XP German MUI / same issue

installed the Office 2007 German language support pack, same issue

 

The error happens on EV 8 SP4 and version 9 client version.

 

If you delete/rename the MetConv.txt from

C:Program FilesCommon Filesmicrosoft sharedSmart Tag

problem goes away and attachments open fine. However you may compound your problems further down the track

I restored the MetConv.txt file and installed the following file for 2002

and problem seem to have went away. User can open and close Outlook archived attachements. It may fix other MetConv.txt error in office 2007.
